ABOUT AMS
After stints as an interior designer with Bates Smart (Melbourne), Wolff Olins and DEGW (London), AMS relocated to Sydney and went on to establish the Space Furniture retail network for the founding owner. Collaborating with some of the biggest names in the international design scene, she spent more than a decade working closely with preeminent contemporary furnishing brands B&B Italia, Cassina, Poltrona Frau, Zanotta, Edra, Kartell and Magis.
First attending Milan’s Salone del Mobile in 1988, the biggest event on the international design calendar, AMS continues to make the annual pilgrimage. Amassing an extensive network of connections, she has garnered unique industry knowledge that inevitably spills into the sphere of contemporary art.
Collaborative by nature, AMS is director of her own marketing consultancy, working with prominent designers, brands and manufacturers to establish marketing and business development initiatives. Taking an innovative approach to brand and product development strategy, she also specializes in tailoring effective communication programs and launches for Fontana Arte, Established & Sons, and Shareen Joel, to name a few.
Committed to creating opportunities for both emerging and established practitioners in a range of creative disciplines, AMS has been instrumental in propelling new initiatives over the past 20 years, namely Young Designer of the Year and Launch Pad, and has been an expert advisor for the Australian Design Awards.
As a journalist, AMS writes for Monocol and Surface Asia, as well as INDESIGN, Design Quarterly, InsideOUT. She is currently editor-at-large for BELLE.
When not immersed in all things art and design-related, AMS is known as an avid collector of shoes, art, records, skateboards and fun!
